Woman Treated for Head Trauma After Crashing Bicycle

A San Diego woman is being hospitalized for head injuries after crashing her bicycle in the Lake Murray area Sunday morning.

San Diego Sheriff's officials said a 55-year-old woman was riding her bicycle on Navajo Road directly behind her husband when she struck the rear tire of her husband's bike, causing her to lose control of her bike.

The woman fell off her bicycle and hit her head on the road, officials said. Despite wearing a helmet, she suffered a major head injury and was taken to a local trauma center for treatment.

Her current condition was unknown as of this report.

The traffic division is investigating the crash.
