The multi-vehicle crash left five people injured, two seriously

A woman gave birth in a parking lot Thursday after getting stuck in traffic from a multi-vehicle crash that left five people injured, according to firefighters.

The pregnant woman was on her way to see her doctor just before 8 a.m. when at least four vehicles crashed on Interstate 5, between state Route 52 and Gilman Drive.

The woman got off state Route 52 at Regents Road and gave birth in a parking lot at Marian Bear Memorial Park, before paramedics could reach her.

Mother and baby were taken to Scripps Mercy to be checked out but appeared to be doing okay.

Five people were injured in the crash, two seriously, according to a San Diego fire-rescue spokesperson .
