San Diego police said a woman was arrested Wednesday after refusing to come out of a Pacific Beach apartment.
"Officers killed my husband today unarmed," the woman said to reporters as she was led away in handcuffs.
Officials say she was referring to a man shot and killed by San Diego Police officers on Ingraham Street and Thomas Street, less than half a mile from the standoff location.
The man, identified as a 47-year-old Missouri fugitive, reached into his pocket during a foot chase, officers said.
Investigators said the man failed to comply after several orders from police to show his hands before he was shot by a K-9 officer.
Four hours later, SDPD officers went to the Bay Pointe Apartments in the 3900 block of Ingraham Street to follow up on a domestic violence call, police said. There they found a female suspect who refused to come out.
As a standoff ensued, residents were told to leave the complex.
An SDPD emergency negotiations team was called to the scene, and officers in full gear were seen entering the building at about8:20 p.m. About an hour later, at 9:35 p.m., officers took the woman into custody, officials said.
Investigators have not said if the K-9 officer had activated a personal body camera before the shooting.
