Woman Dies in Crash Along I-8 in Winter Storm

A Fresno County woman died Tuesday when her car rolled over while traveling on Interstate 8 in San Diego's East County.

California Highway Patrol officers responded to the section of highway near Boulevard at approximately 11 p.m.

The region was under a winter storm warning and there was significant snow on the roadways.

The victim, identified by CHP investigators as a 31-year-old Huron resident, lost control and veered off the road on the north side.

Her vehicle, a Honda sedan, overturned on the embankment.

The driver was partially ejected from the car and died at the scene. CHP investigators say she was not wearing a seatbelt properly at the time of the crash.

The victim was not identified pending notification of next of kin.

CHP investigators are looking into what caused the collision but they say at this time, drugs or alcohol are not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
