Exactly one week after a massive power outage in Southern California, county officials say that beaches are now safe to swim in, and the water is safe to drink.
Bacteria-levels are back to normal north and south of Torrey Pines State Beach.
The power outage caused pumping stations to malfunction, spilling more than 3 million gallons of sewage into the ocean.
Other beaches that reopened Wednesday include Bayside Park in Chula Vista and the stretch of beach from a mile south of the Los Penasquitos Lagoon outlet to 15th St. in Del Mar.
City officials also say that all water in San Diego is safe to drink, so boiling drinking water is no longer necessary.
