Voters Approve Prop 3

Hospital funding secured for state's children

Voters across the state approved Prop 3 - funding for children's hospitals with 54% of the vote favoring the proposal. Here in San Diego County, the vote was split 50-50 with 59% of precincts reporting.

The measure authorizes $980,000,000 in bonds to be repaid from the state's General Fund to fund construction, expansion, remodeling, renovation and equipping of children's hospitals around the state.

The cost of the measure is estimated at $2 billion over 30 years to pay off both the principal and interest. Payments are estimated at $64 million per year.
