A vegetation fire was reported Thursday on State Route 79 near Warner Springs, Cal Fire said.
The fire, named the Morettis Fire by officials, was reported around 1 p.m. on SR-79 north of State Route 76. Officials said they were making swift progress putting it out. By 1:18 p.m., Cal Fire said the forward rate of spread had been stopped, with the brush fire holding at half an acre.
Officials planned to remain at the scene for about an hour following the fire, monitoring hot spots.
The Morettis Fire sparked minutes after the Red Gate fire near the La Jolla Reservation along SR-76 and Red Gate Road.
