UC San Diego Students Vote to Take All Sports to Division I

University of California San Diego Students voted Tuesday to take all of their sports to NCAA Division I Tuesday.

By approving the move, students agreed to assess themselves additional fees to help pay for the transition.

The school's newspaper, The Guardian, reports that voter turnout was 35 percent of the undergraduate population. The measure needed 20 percent to pass, the paper said.

The decision is significant for the school's men's and women's basketball programs.
