A fallen tree has blocked the first lane in northbound interstate 805, hitting two vehicles and injuring one driver, authorities confirmed.
The tree came down at about 12:36 p.m. Saturday on New Year's eve, according to California Highway Patrol (CHP). One driver drove straight into the tree when it collapsed in front of him on the freeway.
The injured man was taken to a nearby hospital. Another driver involved in the collision with the tree was not hurt.
Caltrans issued an alert for the lanes blocked by the tree at Balboa Avenue. Drivers heading down I-805N can expect delays south of Clairemont Mesa Blvd.
