A train struck two men in Oceanside Sunday, killing one of them.
The crash happened just before 11 p.m. near the 1600 block of South Coast Highway.
San Diego County Sheriff's deputies say an Amtrak train was traveling southbound just before the collision.
The train's emergency brake was activated when the conductor saw two people walking on the edge of the tracks, deputies said.
One man was killed in the collision. A second man suffered suffered serious injuries and was transported to Scripps La Jolla Hospital, deputies said.
