Thousands Lose Power in North County After Bird Flies Into Switcher

A bird flew into a power line switcher Sunday morning leaving more than 2,000 North County residents without power.

The bird hit the switcher at around 7 a.m. in Encinitas, a San Diego Gas & Electric (SDGE) spokesperson confirmed.

Approximately 2,400 customers in Encinitas, Cardiff by the Sea and Carlsbad were without power until SDGE restored it at around 10 a.m.
