One member of San Diego County's congressional delegation is worth a staggering amount of money, according to a published report. Can you guess who?
Lawmakers' 2008 personal financial disclosure statements are now available online, reports the North County Times.
U.S. Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Vista, is ranked by public interest groups as the second-richest member of Congress (Jane Harman, D-Venice, is the richest). He has an estimated net worth of at least $343 million from business and property holdings. His 2009 form isn't available yet because he got an extension until next week.
The statements do not specify a lawmaker's precise personal wealth, nor do they require listing a personal residence and its worth. Instead, the statements give citizens a look at where lawmakers invest their money and what kind of property they own.
Other highlights: U.S. Rep. Brian Bilbray, R-Solana Beach, earned rental income from homes he owns in Montana and Mississippi. Freshman U.S. Rep. Duncan D. Hunter, R-El Cajon, whose district includes Poway and Ramona, has no major asset holdings or investments.
