An Escondido high school teacher accused of having sex with three minors faced the music Wednesday and got some support from one of his alleged victims.
Steven Antony, 39, is accused of having sex with three teenage girls who played on off-campus volleyball teams he coached. Investigators got a tip last September he was having sex with one of his players at the Sunstorm volleyball club. Antony admitted to Los Angeles police in 2002 that he had a sexual relationship with a minor, according to prosecutors.
On Wednesday, one of the teenagers whom he allegedly had sex with spoke about her relationship with the man who was once her coach.
"I love him and I wish him the best, and I want this to be over soon," the teen said.
The girl said she was 16 years old when the relationship began.
"He doesn't blame anything on me," she said. "He takes complete responsibility for everything."
Antony was a special ed teacher and volleyball coach at San Pasqual High School. Sheriff's investigators said the allegations don't involve any students at that school.
Antony was ordered to stand trial in the case. He remains in jail pending $700,000 bail.
