Standoff Ends in Vista, Suspect Surrenders Peacefully: SDSO

A 40-minute standoff involving SWAT in Vista Monday night ended peacefully, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department (SDSO) said.

The incident began around 9:30 p.m., SDSO officials said. Deputies responded to a report of a domestic violence situation involving a husband wielding a gun inside a home on Girard Way and Coventry Road.

The man's wife and adult son were both inside the home. Officials said the son was able to run out of the home and call for help.

A Sheriff's helicopter spotted the man in their backyard.

After the SWAT team asked the suspect to come out of the home for 40 minutes, he surrendered, SDSO said.

The unidentified man was arrested. He faces charges of domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon.
