SWAT Detains 10 After Gunshots Could Be Heard Near Bonita Homes

SWAT detained 10 people in Bonita early Sunday morning after gunshots were heard in the area.

Deputies were first notified of gunshot noises coming from a home on Robinwood Road, according to San Diego Sheriff’s Department Lt. Michael McNeil.

The call came in just before 4 a.m.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found shell casings and live rounds in the driveway.

SWAT was called shortly after, McNeil said.

Officials then searched the house and detained nine people, SDSO said.

Deputies saw a man flee on foot heading west and eventually lost sight of him.

He was later identified as Salvador Barajas, 25.

A sheriff's canine was used to track Barajas. He was found within 15 minutes near an apartment complex less than a half mile away, McNeil said.

A gun and magazine were found close by.

Barajas was detained and taken to a nearby hospital for wounds suffered from being apprehend, according to SDSO.

He was charged with negligent discharge of a firearm.

SDSO will continue to investigate.
