Local Up for Prize in Doritos Super Bowl Contest

La Jolla High School graduate makes a name for himself with funny Doritos ads

For a second straight year, a San Diego man is a finalist in the Doritos "Crash the Super Bowl" contest.

Tyler Dixon, 36, produced an ad called "Dog Park" featuring two guys who use Doritos instead of dog treats. In the commercial, all the humans in the park realize what’s going on and start doing tricks just to score a Dorito.

The ad is now a finalist in the competition and cost only $1300 to produce.

Last year, Dixon spent $82 to make the commercial selected by Doritos to air during the game.

The ad showed a co-worker literally sucking the Doritos "dust" from another man's fingers. Dixon said he got the idea when he realized his favorite thing about eating Doritos was the dust left on his fingers afterward.

A La Jolla High graduate, Dixon attended last year’s Super Bowl in a VIP box with other contestants and watched his ad air on what he called “the biggest stage of the world.”

“It was amazing,” Dixon said.
