A minivan was leaving a trail of sparks as the driver fled from police on southbound Interstate 5 in Chula Vista.
The CHP said the driver was wanted in connection with a hit-and-run crash on the same freeway near Clairemont Drive.
SkyRanger 7 caught up with the driver as he was speeding by southbound traffic. All of the sudden a stream of spark began shooting from the front-left tire of the minivan and the driver's speed slowed considerably.
The minivan eventually rolled to a stop in the middle of freeway lanes and officers swarmed it and arrested the driver near the State Route 54 interchange.
The three right lanes of the freeway were blocked following the arrest.
