Southbound State Route 163 near Interstate 5 has reopened following a collision involving a California Highway Patrol car.
The CHP said the officer was slowing down for a pedestrian on the shoulder when he was rear-ended at around 4 p.m.
He suffered moderate head and neck injuries and was transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital, according to CHP Public Information Officer Jake Sanchez.
Sanchez said it was the second traffic collision the officer has been involved in within the last month.
The closure briefly included the ramp from southbound SR-163 to I-5.
The NBC 7 traffic map showed traffic delays on southbound SR-163 as far north as Balboa Avenue hours after the crash.
CHP is investigating the crash. There is no word on how long the closure will last.
