A fatal collision involving a car and motorcyclist prompted a Sig Alert on State Route 163 late Saturday night, California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers said.
The accident happened at University Avenue in Hillcrest around 9:30 p.m. Saturday when Joshua Leigh Haner, 38, of San Diego, was going down SR-163 just north of University Avenue.
Witnesses saw the helmeted motorcyclist lose control of his motorcycle and begin to slide, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's office. He was then struck by a car traveling south.
Haner was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the car is cooperating with police.
CHP officials are investigating.
