Rain, T-Storms Expected in San Diego County

Summer will go out with a bang this week in San Diego with more heat and then a chance of showers and thunderstorms.

The county can expect another round of subtropical moisture that will move up from northern Baja California.

NBC 7 Meteorologist Jodi Kodesh said we'll have a good chance for showers and thunderstorms Monday and into Tuesday.

The rain may be scattered, but rainfall totals are expected to be high over the mountain and desert region.

Most of the precipitation will be over San Diego County, but forecasters say there's a chance of thunderstorms over Los Angeles County Monday evening through Tuesday.

The weather service says rainfall rates will be highly variable, and impacts could include roadway flooding, local flash floods in the mountains and deserts, debris flows and lightning on the beaches.

A flash flood watch was issued by the National Weather from 11 a.m. Monday through Tuesday afternoon.
