Sheriff's Investigating Valley Center Homicide After Home Invasion

San Diego County Sheriff's (SDSO) Homicide Detectives are investigating the death of a man suffering from visible trauma after a home invasion in Valley Center. 

The homicide happened at approximately 5 a.m. on the 15000 block of Villa Sierra Lane, in Valley Center, North of San Diego. The location is south of State Route 76 and east of Cole Grande Road. 

SDSO Lt. Ken Nelson said deputies first responded to a report of an assault at the home following a home invasion. As they were on their way, they received a call saying the victim was injured and had stopped breathing. 

When deputies arrived on the scene, they noticed the victim had suffered visible trauma. They began CPR and life-saving measures, but the victim succumbed to his injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

"It's really sad," neighbor Faith March said. "We have a lovely neighborhood. A lot of us have been here 20, 30 years. I can't believe it happened."

Deputies have a possible suspect at-large. 

SDSO Homicide Detectives took over the investigation.
