Sewage Spills Along Del Mar Coast

Sewage runs for almost an hour before city crews could stop it

Signs warning of contaminated water are posted along the Del Mar coastline after 5,700 gallons of sewage spilled near San Dieguito Road and El Camino Real Thursday. City of San Diego workers discovered the spill just after 7 a.m.

The spill was caused by a force main break in the line and ran for about 50 minutes before crews were able to clear the blockage. The sewage flowed into a nearby storm drain and then into the San Dieguito River.
