Several Chargers Played Alongside Chiefs' Belcher

Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher, 25, killed himself Saturday morning after fatally shooting his girlfriend

Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher, 25, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the Chiefs training facility near Arrowhead Stadium Saturday morning after fatally shooting his girlfriend, Kansas City police said.

Belcher’s suicide will undoubtedly impact several current Chargers players who were once teammates with the linebacker in Kansas City.

Belcher has played for the Chiefs since 2009. Over the last several years, he’s crossed paths with four Bolts players.

According to the NFL website, Chargers runningback Jackie Battle played for the Chiefs from 2007 to 2011, overlapping with Belcher for a few of those seasons.

Bolts left tackle Jared Gaither and fullback Le’Ron McClain both played for the Chiefs in 2011 alongside Belcher.

Chargers linebacker Demorrio Williams, who played for Kansas City from 2008 through 2011, was also a teammate to Belcher for several seasons.

The last time the Chargers brushed pads with the Chiefs was on Nov. 1, when the Bolts won 31 to 13.

Belcher’s death rocked the NFL Saturday morning. The murder-suicide is under investigation.
