Security Deems Bomb Threat Not Credible at Naval Base Coronado

The bomb threat has been deemed not credible by security personnel.

Security personnel responded to a bomb threat at Naval Base Coronado at the Naval Air Station North Island Friday, confirmed naval security.

The threat came through a phone call to the gym at the Naval Air Station at about 1:10 p.m., according to naval security. Security worked to secure the scene and investigate the validity of the threat.

By 2:40 p.m., security officials determined that the threat was not credible. Less than half an hour later, the incident was cleared and the base resumed normal operations.

The incident was reported at the VADM Martin Fitness Center. NASNI gates remain open at the moment to public access.

Naval Base Coronado officials say they take all threats very seriously, using careful and vigilant security procedures.
