Grossmont Unified school district officials have increased security measures at a Santee high school due to a social media threat that was determined to be unfounded.

The threat referenced possible acts of violence at West Hills High School, according to the Grossmont Unified School District.

The San Diego Sheriff's Department (SDSO) said that a post made on Instagram threatened students not to come to school Friday "or they will get hurt."

They investigated the threat and determined it was unsubstantiated for West Hills High School. The original post was made by a student of Western Hills High School in Frankfort, Kentucky, SDSO said.

Out of an abundance of caution, security would make extra patrols at the campus throughout the day.
