SDGE Crews Work on Major Gas Leak on Naples St. in Chula Vista

The gas leak was caused when a truck hit one of the risers on the gas line.

SDG&E crews were at the scene of a large gas leak, spewing gas on the 400 block of Naples Street in Chula Vista, confirmed the Chula Vista Fire Department (CVFD).

Crews controlled the leak at 1:20 p.m. between the fourth and fifth street, according to SDG&E. It was caused when a truck hit one of the risers on the gas line. No evacuation orders were placed for nearby residents.

The Chula Vista fire units were by the leak, waiting for the SDG&E crews to finish their work, according to the CVFD. The leak began at about 1:10 p.m. Thursday.

It wasn't immediately clear to what extent the gas leak had affected the area. No other information was available.
