200 Without Power After Truck Hits Transformer

Man lost control of truck due to a medical condition

More than 200 Otay Mesa residents were without power Monday night after a man crashed his truck into a SDG&E power box.

The man lost control of his truck due to a medial condition while driving on the 900 block of Churrituck Dr.

The man was taken to a local hospital by family members, according to the San Diego Police Department.

After the crash at about 11 p.m., 239 customers lost power for several hours. By the morning, about 60 customers were still out of power. SDG& E said they expect to restore power completely by noon  on Tuesday.

SDG&E will have to replace the box and some of the wiring in the box, officials said.

The man's condition at this time is not known.
