HAZMAT Investigates Suspicious Package of Aluminum Cans Near Mountain View

An investigation to determine whether the package poses a public safety hazard is underway.

Officials are investigating a suspicious package left on the side of the street near Mountain View on Thursday morning.

According to the San Diego Police Department and the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, the package was found at about 10:25 a.m. by the intersection of S 45 St. and Logan Ave.

A person called law enforcement and reported the suspicious package. Officials say the package resembles a blue shoe box filled with aluminum cans.

HAZMAT is inspecting the package, due to police concerns that it may pose a public safety threat.
