A North County city council took steps once again to keep medical marijuana dispensaries out of their community.
On Tuesday evening, San Marcos city council members unanimously approved the introduction to an ordinance that would prohibit the cultivation, delivery and sale of medical marijuana.
The decision comes in anticipation of the bills signed by Governor Jerry Brown regulating cannabis in the state.
Recently, Governor Brown signed a trio of bills that would regulate medical marijuana in California.
The bills established the first statewide licensing and operating rules for pot growers, manufacturers of cannabis-infused projects and retail weed outlets since California voters legalized medical marijuana in 1996.
However, under the state regulations, cities have until March 2016 to establish their own legislations for medical marijuana sales.
San Marcos had already banned medical marijuana dispensaries back in 2006 but the city council once again voted on a placing a ban in anticipation of next year's deadline.

The meeting was lighthearted despite the subject. Council members addressed concerns about medical marijuana sales, including mobile marijuana dispensaries.
There was no opposition to the ordinance from the public present at the council meeting.
San Marcos is not the only local city taking steps to prohibit the sale of medical marijuana. El Cajon also voted on Tuesday to continue with the process of keeping marijuana dispensaries out of their city.
