Fire investigators are looking for an arson suspect after seven separate fires burned along one street in Clairemont Aug. 14.

A man testing out his brand new Jeep sparked a 10-acre grass fire in Eastlake on Aug. 4. The fire was reported around 6 p.m. near Eastlake and Hunte Parkways.

The passenger suffered minor burns and it looks like the Jeep is a total loss. Since it's illegal to drive off-road in the area, the driver will likely be responsible for a $30,000 bill for putting out the fire.

The National Guard was called in to help move firefighters into remote areas to help battle the flames. Two 23-year-old men were arrested and accused of starting the fire. They both live on the Los Coyotes Indian Reservation where the fire generated officials said.

The fire near Kate Sessions Park broke out the afternoon of Wednesday, June 29. By about 3 p.m., flames had charred about one-quarter of an acre near the intersection of Edgeworth and Crownhill roads, directly behind the park.
