A counselor at a San Diego school for troubled teens has been arrested and accused of having sex with a minor.
Lucas Jubb, a full-time counselor at Alba High School, was arrested Wednesday according to the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office.
Jubb was booked on two felony counts of having sex with a minor and released on $20,000 bond, San Diego police said.
The district attorney will review the case and determine whether to file charges, pending further investigation, a DA's office spokesperson told NBC 7.
Jubb has been placed on administrative leave following his arrest according to San Diego Unified School District spokesperson Jack Brandais.
ALBA (Alternative Learning for Behavior and Attitude) is designed to help those students who have been expelled from other schools transition back to their previous schools.
There are three schools in the district covering elementary, middle and high school students. Jubb works at the high school location on Oregon Street.
Jubb started working with the district as a clerk typist in 2002, according to the district spokesperson.
He took on a licensed mental health clinician position five years later and was assigned to ALBA at that time.
At Alba High School on Thursday, one student told NBC 7 San Diego the principal pulled students into a classroom and told them of Jubb’s arrest, though the principal did not say why Jubb had been arrested.
One student said the news of Jubb’s arrest is surprising and said the school counselor was very supportive of him in his time of trouble.
At Jubb’s home in Pacific Beach, a neighbor told NBC 7 that a search warrant had been served on Jubb’s home on Wednesday. The neighbor said detectives had asked if he had ever seen “people coming in and out [of Jubb’s home], young people.”
The neighbor said no, that Jubb lived there with his fiancée, who the neighbor said is not underage.
