A high wind warning was issued Thursday for San Diego mountains and deserts. A wind warning is issued when there are winds at speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph or more.
According to NBC 7 Meteorologist Jodi Kodesh, sustained westerly winds of 20-35 mph, with gusts to 60 mph are possible, in the wind-prone mountain passes, peaks and desert slopes.
Winds are expected to increase throughout the day, peaking Thursday afternoon and evening, Kodesh said. Driving conditions on Interstate 8, State Routes 79 and 78 could be hazardous.
Winds will lessen slightly Friday, though a wind advisory will remain in effect until 11 am Saturday.
Temperatures Thursday should be in the mid-60s along the coast, low 70s in the valleys and mid to upper 50s in the mountain areas. The deserts could see temperatures in the mid-80s.
It will be sunny, and much warmer, this weekend.
