Although the county is known for its world-class beaches, its reputation has recently been sullied due to water quality concerns.
"I definitely don't want to be going into the water if there are quality concerns," San Diego resident Sarah Blain told NBC 7 on Saturday.

According to the International Boundary and Water Commission, a third pump started working Wednesday in Mexico. That should help stem the tide of contaminated water into San Diego's South Bay.
Less sewage flowed through the Tijuana River on Thursday than on previous days, which could lead to improving water quality along the shoreline. However, people at the beach were still concerned about the long-term health impacts.
"It's been a recurring issue since we've been here," said 11-year resident of San Diego Randy Bishop. "My main concern is just worrying about what this means for the San Diego area going forward. I have young kids that I want to be able to come out to the beach for years to come, and I'm concerned about the direction that it's going."
