ROC Race 5K Challenge

This charity event will benefit the Challenged Athletes Foundation

The obstacle course that encourages wigs and costumes and calls itself "The Craziest 5K Race on Earth" is returning to San Diego for another year.

Get ready for the hurdles, boulder dodge and even a giant slip ‘n’ slide - the ROC Race 5K Ridiculous Obstacle Challenge will be held at the Del Mar Fairgrounds May 19 -20 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The course, a mix between military-style training grounds and a wild and crazy game show, is timed so you can challenge your friends.

The idea is about extreme obstacles and having fun like climbing through tires, hanging on the ropes, and sludging through the mud run.

Top finishers in each time slot will receive a medal for bragging at the bar later and those who aren't so fast, will at least get an official “I Survived ROC Race” T-shirt.

The first 200 people to raise $250 will get access to an all-inclusive VIP area after the race, and will be joined by Bill Walton.

There will also be a costume contest for the best individual and group costume held 15 minutes before each race.

Following the festivities is a free ROC Fest after party, with live music and great eats. Tickets start at $55. This event is for ages 13 and up.

NBCSanDiego is a media partner for the event. All proceeds will benefit the Challenged Athletes Foundation.
