“It's Unbelievable”: Home Intruder Grabs Sleeping Woman

Victim said suspect returned to her home after first burglary.

A Riverside woman was on edge after her home was burglarized by a suspected home intruder whom she believes wanted to rape her.

Cheyenne Gatcomb said she encountered the burglar on Aug. 20 while she was sleeping in her bed. The suspect stood next to her bed while she was facing the wall. The victim said she could feel someone grabbing her leg and then lifting her covers. When she turned around, she said she saw the intruder fondling himself before running out of her home.

Gatcomb said she panicked and called 911. When she looked out of her window, she said she saw the man again getting out of an older model white Honda. She said the man tried to hop over a fence, and headed toward her home. The suspect then stared at the victim through her window before fleeing again and leaving in his car.

"It's unbelievable that this could happen, knowing my kids are in the same house," she said.

The victim provided Riverside Police Department with a description of the suspect. Police released a composite sketch based on the victim's description of the intruder.

Police said they believe the suspect entered the victim's home through an unsecured garage door.

Riverside police warned residents to remember to make sure all of their doors are locked.
