Carlsbad-based Razer announced plans to bring a new notebook computer optimized for gaming to market.

Company marketers note it is thinner than a dime.

The Razer Blade will have a 14-inch screen, an Intel quad core i7 processor (code named Haswell), a sophisticated Nvidia graphics processor, and a profile of 0.66 inches.

Pricing starts at $1,799. Razer said it will take pre-orders beginning June 3.

Intel says it will release its fourth generation Haswell chip June 4 at the Computex conference in Taiwan. The chip offers β€œextraordinary battery life,” according to an Intel statement.

Razer also announced the Blade Pro, with a 17-inch screen, suitable for work and play. Pricing starts at $2,299.

Razer produces gaming hardware, software and systems. Min-Liang Tan is CEO.
