Rattlesnakes Found in La Mesa Domestic Violence Stabbing

Two rattlesnakes were found inside a La Mesa home Saturday after a man was stabbed in a domestic-violence incident, police said.

Officers responded to the call around 1:30 p.m. at the 7800 block of La Mesa Boulevard, La Mesa Police Department said.

A man was stabbed inside the home and was taken to the hospital for treatment, police said.

Police also found two rattlesnakes inside the home and have contacted the California Department of Fish and Wildlife to take care of the animals.

It was unclear what led up to the stabbing. The man's condition was unknown.

It is not illegal in the state of California to take and keep native rattlesnakes, though it was unclear if the snakes were native to San Diego.
