Rain Hits Across the County

Highways soaked for morning commute

Rain soaked the north coastal areas Tuesday and reached other parts of the county in the form of scattered showers. It's a "fast mover," so the region won't get a lot out of it, but as dry as it's been, we'll take what we can get.

Estimates are for about .20 inch of rain near the coast, maybe twice that in the foothills and mountains.

This is the same storm, by the way, that's been dumping snow on the Sierra Nevada MountainsMammoth Mountain got so much snow from the three previous storms over the weekend that it opened for business at 9 a.m. Monday, a full 10 days ahead of schedule.

Enjoy this small bit of autumn weather because it's moving out as fast as it moved in.

By Wednesday, high pressure rebuilds and by Thursday we could be in the midst of another Santa Ana event, promising breezy, sunny, warm and "wildfire inspiring" dry conditions into the weekend. But at least with the moisture we're getting today, the fire danger will be a little less.
