San Diego Areas Without Power

Outage caused by fallen tree, SDG&E says

About 3,000 San Diego Gas & Electric customers were without power throughout San Diego Sunday.

The outage was caused by a fallen tree, which impacted both overhead and underground power systems, according to a warning released by the company.

Areas affected by the outage included La Mesa, Clairemont, Kearny Mesa, east Descanso, Green Valley Falls, Cuyamaca, Winter Gardens, Lakeside, Bostonia, Carlsbad, La Costa, San Luis Rey, Ocean Hills and Oceanside.

By about 8 p.m. Sunday night, power to most of San Diego had been restored. About 180 customers in east Descanso, Green Valley Falls and Cuyamaca were still without power. Forty-one customers in Clairemont and Kearny Mesa and 68 customers in the Carlsbad area were also without power.

SDG&E did not say what time the remaining customers could expect to have power again.
