Police Pursuit Ends on Trolley Tracks

A driver attempting to flee the police drove under chain-link fencing surrounding trolley tracks in Valencia Park Wednesday, San Diego police said.

A San Diego police officer tried to pull over the driver of a red Honda Accord near Interstate 805 and Imperial Avenue for not having the proper license plates.

The pursuit ended just more than a mile away from where 54th Street crosses the trolley tracks just south of Market Street.

The suspect drove through a chain-link fence, shearing the bottom and taking out a wooden post.

The car eventually got stuck on the tracks.

It took several people and a car designed to drive on train tracks to tow the car off of the tracks.

One person was in custody. A second person escaped capture.

It does not appear the incident disrupted trolley service. The Orange line does not run through that neighborhood before 5 a.m.
