Pit Bull Unleashed During Fight, Owner Accused of Assault With Deadly Weapon

San Diego police officers described the dog as a pit bull

A San Diego man is in custody on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after unleashing his dog Sunday during an argument with another man.

San Diego police arrested the 27-year-old man after the fight broke out just after 9 p.m. on El Cajon Boulevard in North Park.

The suspect was in an argument with another man when, police say, he took the leash off of his dog.

Officers say the large pit bull charged at the victim.

A 50-year-old man was bitten in both the face and the arm, police said. They described the bites as minor.

The dog was taken into custody by the San Diego Humane Society and placed on a bite quarantine.

The incident happened near Kansas Street and El Cajon Boulevard, west of Interstate 805.
