Pine Valley: It's Where the Drugs Are

Border Patrol agents found 43 bundles of dope hidden inside a pair of otherwise innocuous looking vehicles in the otherwise lovely rural community.

A Volkswagen Passat was stopped on Monday at a checkpoint on Interstate 8, according to border agents. A drug-sniffing dog made short work of the car, quickly hitting on nearly 40 pounds of coke hidden under a rear seat.

About nine hours later, a search at the checkpoint of a battered Ford Explorer with Baja plates turned up another 43 pounds of blow in a secret compartment, thanks to a K-9 dog. The driver allegedly told agents the pickup wasn't his. Really? So whose was it, then?

Both drivers were Mexican men in their 30s. Investigators said the drugs could have been worth more than $800,000 if they had been sold.
