Rescued Pilot Whale Arrives in San Diego

A pilot whale, found stranded on a Japanese beach years ago, arrived to San Diego where he'll live with other pilot whales.

Argo, a 10-year-old pilot whale, was getting acclimated in a behind-the-scenes pool at Dolphin Stadium at SeaWorld San Diego.

The park released video of the whale Monday.

Argo comes from Japan, where he was found stranded on a beach in 2004.

Japanese Coast Guard officials made several attempts to return him to the ocean, but the animal continued to beach.

Argo was rescued and rehabilitated at a Japanese Marine Park but that park has no other pilot whales.

SeaWorld San Diego was asked to provide long-term care for Argo so he can live with other whales of his own species.
