It was actually the first show of the night for the band -- they jammed over to Soda Bar later in the night for a special first-come, first-served free show for diehard fans!

Fun fact: The band was originally called “Foster & the People” but people misheard it as “Foster the People” and it stuck.

In 2010, Foster posted the song "Pumped Up Kicks” online and it became a viral success. Prior to the release of the song, Foster had been working as a jingle writer at Mophonics, Inc.

Understanding what worked in commercials helped Foster make their 2011 debut album, "Torches," one of the most commercially licensed albums in years. Half of the album's songs were licensed to major television shows, commercials and video games.

By May 2011, “Pumped Up Kicks” became a radio hit and reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The kicker? The band received three Grammy Award nominations for “Torches” and “Pumped Up Kicks.”

On the song’s success, Foster has said: “It’s such a good feeling to write something that resonates and breaks the mold of the status quo. That's what happened with 'Pumped Up Kicks' and it’s happening again with 'Sit Next To Me.' I love timeless pop."
