A pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries when she was hit by a truck in San Ysidro Tuesday night.
Police say the woman was in a crosswalk when they were hit by a truck turning right onto E. San Ysidro Boulevard from Olive Drive at around 5 p.m., San Diego Police Department Lt. Andra Brown said.
The truck was stopped at the light before it accelerated and hit the woman, Brown said.
The woman was taken to UCSD hospital with major injuries to her head.
Brown said the victim's injuries appeared superficial at first and she was taken to the hospital as a precaution. When she was at the hospital, she went into cardiac arrest and had to be resuscitated.
The truck was being driven by a 29-year-old man, SDPD said. He was not believed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash and he stayed at the scene to cooperate with investigators.
