Woman Struck, Killed by Semi-Trailer in Pacific Beach

A woman was struck and killed by a semi-trailer Sunday afternoon in Pacific Beach, the San Diego Police Department (SDPD) said.

Police responded to a call of a body in the alley of the 1600 block of Garnet Avenue, behind the Trader Joe's, San Diego police Lt. Christian Sharp said.

When officers arrived, they found the 52-year-old woman down on the ground with no pulse and not breathing, he said.

Officers performed CPR until paramedics arrived. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

"It looks like she was run over based on the injuries to her body," Sharp said.

SDPD Traffic Division is investigating the death.

"We're now canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses," Sharp said.

The driver of the semi-trailer is still unknown.

An earlier version of this story stated the incident was a possible hit-and-run. SDPD has since ruled out that possibility.
