It happened on the 1200 block of South 47th Street at about 8:25 p.m., according to San Diego Police. The driver sped away from the scene.
When police arrived, they found a man laying in the southbound lane with severe injuries, said SDPD Traffic Sgt. Ron Glass.

The vehicle may have been grey or white, and it possibly had all black rims, said SDPD Officer Robert Heims. The car was described as having damage on the front end, the hood and the windshields. It may have a cracked headlight lens.
Street closures were in place on 47th St. between Logan and Solola Avenue, while crews cleared the scene.
