Pedestrian Hit, Injured by Vehicle in Chula Vista

A pedestrian was hit and injured by a vehicle in Chula Vista on wet Wednesday evening.

As the rain poured down at Broadway and G Street, the driver in a Honda car made a left turn during a green light, failing to see a woman in the crosswalk -- who was walking despite having a red light, Chula Vista police said.

The vehicle collided with the woman. A good Samaritan jumped in to help, carrying the injured patient from the street to safety. The woman suffered a potential broken leg, police say.

She was taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital.

The female driver remained at the scene and spoke with police through an interpreter about what happened.

Police do not believe alcohol or drugs were involved. They believe the collision was rain related.

It's unclear if anyone was cited in the crash.
