Padres Fall to Brewers

After a four-game winning streak, the Padres have now lost two of three after falling to the Brewers in Milwaukee on Tuesday night. The 4-1 victory snapped the Brewers' six-game losing skid.

Padres starter Andrew Cashner pitched well enough to win, scattering two runs on eight hits over six innings. But he was outdueled by Jimmy Nelson, who allowed just three Padres hits in 6 2/3 innings.

The Friars (52-55) got their lone run on a sacrifice fly by Yonder Alonso, scoring Matt Kemp in the fourth.

Alexi Amarista had a pair of hits, including a leadoff double in the eighth. Yangervis Solarte followed that with a single to stretch his hitting streak to 10 games. But the Padres were unable to score, as Alonso and Jedd Gyorko struck out to end the inning.

Both teams play again tomorrow night.
