The Padres are 40-40. Right about where most folks were hoping they would be, which is .500. But they're also just a couple of games out of a National League Wild Card spot.
And that is a wonderfully agonizing spot to be in. Now they have to decide whether or not they go all-in for a post-season berth in 2019 or stay the course and work towards sustained success.
